City Council Regular Meeting Minutes
May 8, 2018
6:00 pm
Attendees – Mayor Bobby Blalock, Councilmen Joe Walter, William Thomas, Dewey Yarbrough, David Woods,
City Administrator Larry Mitcham, City Clerk Amanda Lollis, and City Attorneys Rob and Tom Morton.
I. Mayor Blalock called the meeting to order at 6:00 p.m.
II. Adoption of Agenda – Motion/Second to adopt agenda, as amended, was made by Thomas/Walter and passed 4-0.
III. Public Hearing- Regarding the Annexation and Rezoning of Christ Chapel- Motion/Second to enter into
Public Hearing was made by Walter/Thomas and carried 4-0. Motion/Second to close Public Hearing was made by Walter/Thomas and carried 4-0.
IV. Second reading of resolution regarding the annexation and rezoning of Christ Chapel property ( 2.89 acres, more or less Motion/Second to approve second reading was made by Walter/Thomas and carried 4-0.
V. Public Comment- Proclamation honoring the 175th Anniversary of Montgomery Lodge. Motion/Second to approve Proclamation was made by Yarbrough/Walter and carried 4-0.
VI. Approval of Minutes – Regular Meeting – Motion/second to approve the minutes from the April 10, 2018 regular meeting and the April 19, 2018 called meeting was made by Walter/Thomas and carried 4-0.
VII. Departmental Report
1. Administrative/Finance – Larry Mitcham, City Administrator
a. Financial Report for March2018 – City Administrator Mitcham addressed council regarding the Financial Report for the month of March 2018. A motion/second to approve the financial report for March2018 was made by Walter/Thomas and carried 4-0.
b. Police Statistics for March 2018
VIII. Mayor Comments – Mayor Blalock – commented about the limbs in the park we will see about getting some trees delimbed.
IX. Council Comments –
Councilman Walter – Councilman Walter updated council on the Streetscape III project as well as the ongoing efforts regarding the rehabilitation of the Old Zebulon School Building.
Councilman Thomas – No comments at this time.
Councilman Yarbrough – No comment at this time.
Councilman Woods- No comment at this time.
X. New Business
1. Alternate work schedule -Motion/Second to approve alternate work schedule was made by Yarbrough/Thomas and carried 4-0.
XI. Adjournment- Motion/Second to adjourn was made by Thomas/Yarbrough and carried 4-0.
